Questions about my product version

Added by Hector Bojorquez over 8 years ago

Hello everybody,

I requested for a MitySOM-1810F + PROFIBUS-development kit from Avnet, and I got kind of confused with the product I received

It is supposed that the MitySOM-1810F should look like this:

but the mine one looks like this:

It's name label starts with "MityDSP" and then it is a blank, so I look in the components and yes, it has the MitySOM-1810F components:

AM1810 Microprocessor
Spartan 6 from Xilinx

For the label in the SOM at first I thought that it could be the MityDSP-L138 that was too because when I got boot it up I saw in terminal "Mityomap*l138*"

but I think that for being MityDSP-L138 I should be seeing the OMAP-L138 CPU on the module and I just can see the AM1810.

I hope you can help me being sure of the version of my product and if you know, what can be the reason of having that wrong blank label in the module?

Thanks for your time.

Hector

During the linux boot, it should print out the model number of the module. Here is what my L138 prints out:

root@mityomapl138:~# dmesg | grep 'Part Number'
MityOMAPL138: Part Number = L138-DG-225-RI

boot it up I saw in terminal "Mityomap*l138*"

The same filesystem is used for the L138 and the AM1808/1810. The welcome message does not get modified if the processor changes.

Hector,

To determine the model of a specific module please refer to the label that is located on the bottom side of the module.

For example you would see the 1810-FG-225-RC which would mean that the module is an AM1810 processor. Other information is included on that label but the model number is what you are looking for.

The naming and labeling you mention on the top of the PCB has changed over time and as you can see different variants exist. The label on the bottom is the most reliable way of identification.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

I got this:

root@mityomapl138:~# dmesg | grep 'Part Number'
MityOMAPL138: Part Number = 1810-DG-255-RC

So I think I can be sure that I have MitySOM-1810F

Thanks Jonathan.
