Newport Instaspec X CCD camera

Added by Mirko Mirkic about 5 years ago

Hello!

I see the forum is pretty desolate, but who knows ;)

I have a question, help needed. I acquired this nice CCD, front-illuminated, TE cooled camera, but bare without cables, drivers, anything.
It has NEWPORT branding, model: 78235 and other model ID written on camera: 7536-0001.
Some known specs:
1024x256px, 26.6 x 6.6 mm active area
Spectral Response-- 400-1000nm
Array -- 1024 x 256
Pixel Size -- 26 x 26 um
Array Size -- 26.6 x 6.7 nm
Deep TE cooling down to -75º
CCD sensor: e2v CCD 30-11 (maybe?) - https://www.e2v.com/resources/account/download-datasheet/1123

I'm to believe that this camera has Critical Link hardware inside so will try MityViewer, but first I must be sure about power input requirements (think it is 12V, but don't want to burn it).

If anybody have any information on this camera; power input specification (I measure only two groups of connected pins; one definitely ground, other must be VIN?, drivers, acquisition software.

Thank you if anybody ever read this :)

Regards,
Mirko

Dear Mirko,

Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, we do not use the same serial identification numbers as Newport. Critical Link has designed a couple of different E2V camera packages. If you can provide pictures of the camera, I should be able to tell you the correct power supply for your camera.

Thank you,

Jaime Wilkie

Hi Jamie

Thank you for fast response.
I attached photos of camera and last one is (sorry for ugly doodle) what I measured on pins (checked for continuity); 2 groups of connected pins from which one is ground.
I took back cover off so there is also photo of visible part of circuitry if helps.

Thank you very much for effort.

Regards,
Mirko

Mirko,

Looking at the hardware, this is not one of our designs. Based on the datasheet, the sensor requires 5-6 different voltages. There should be a separate power supply unit from Newport that creates these voltages and passes them to the camera. Sorry I could not be more helpful.

Thank you Jamie

I would expect that camera creates different needed voltages from single voltage supplied to power connector, but maybe I'm wrong.
It confuses me that 4 pins (ones that are not return/ground) are connected one to another (I get below 0.5 Ohm between them and that is from multimeter cables)?

In any case, thank you! I will continue the search. Newport is not responding to my inquiry...

Nenad

Hi Mirko,
I have a CCD camera similar to yours, Newport branding, model 78236.
I am sending an attached the specifications that came with it. I still hope to help!

I take the opportunity to ask you if you got the software and drivers for the camera, because I didn't get it with Newport and the installation CD Rom was lost! Please, could you help me?

Regards,
Mariana
